Meet the Team: Ela Schraps
Name: Ela Schraps
Company and role: STFC The Hartree Centre – Project Manager
What is your connection to LCR 4.0? I’m the project manager of the Hartree Centre for LCR4.0
How would your work colleagues describe you?
I had to ask my colleagues to be as accurate as possible and in 3 words they said… Organised, considerate and patient.
What has been your proudest achievement during your time on the project?
Supporting SMEs and seeing them achieve their targets. It is brilliant to hear all of the stories about how our support helped them get to where they want; it is a good feeling.
What advice would you give to start-ups/SMEs in the Liverpool City Region?
Industry 4.0 is the new big thing and early adaptation to the Industry 4.0 technologies will help companies a lot. The road to success might not be the easiest to take, however, with some help, nothing is impossible.
What’s been the most important innovation you’ve witnessed in your lifetime?
Innovation is hard to quantify, what you find to be innovative, might be something extremely normal for some others. Even though there has been quite a few innovations that took my attention, the one that impressed me the most is Elon Musk’s SpaceX project and what he has achieved so far. All of those projects make you believe that “the only limit is your imagination”.
What do you think the ‘next big thing’ in the Liverpool City Region is?
That’s a tough question to answer at the moment, but I believe augmented intelligence and actually knowing how to take advantage of the big data and what it can offer will be the next big thing in the region.
Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us:
I’m a mechanical engineer; I actually loved being involved in development processes and I thought I’d always pursue my career in engineering, however, now it is going in a different direction that I haven’t really thought of.
